“I am losing precious days. I am degenerating into a machine for making money. I am learning nothing in this trivial world of men. I must break away and get out into the mountains.” – John Muir
I received this nomination from https://uncertaintyweb.wordpress.com/
Some try to paint with words. Uncertainty does the opposite, her words wash away all the paint and expose what truly lies underneath. Beauty is not just that which shines in the light, it is also that which finds shade in the darkness.
“I can’t believe this place, it’s a complete disaster.”
“Well now, we were very open in the listing and I sent you photos.”
“I know, it’s just seeing it in person is a bit overwhelming. It’s worse than I expected.”
“It just needs a little work.”
“A little? Just hauling out all the garbage is going to set me back a month or more.”
“Remember, the price we negotiated was based on you taking the property as is.”
“What in the hell is that?”
“Over there, by the shed.”
“I believe that is a hot air balloon. Or at least what’s left of one.”
“What am I supposed to do with that?”
“I don’t know. That thing probably weighs a ton. I’m sure most people would just throw it away but the prior owner was a bit eccentric. I’m sure there’s an interesting story behind that balloon.”
“OK, let’s do this. I’ll take the property.”
“Yup, as is.”
Q1. What makes you want to be a kind person? (and if you are not, then why?)
Treating others with kindness should be the default way we interact with one another. It’s a simple thing to do but has an immeasurable impact. We are all part of the same experience, if you treat others poorly then you are in reality treating yourself poorly.
Q2. Is there a moment you shared with a stranger that doesn’t leave your mind? (Let’s keep it a positive one)
One time when I saw a little kid wearing a really ratty over-sized pair of shoes. The realization that some people can’t even afford to buy their child a decent pair of shoes remains a constant reminder of how fortunate I am with everything I have in my life. But it is also a reminder that I could easily find myself in the same situation.
Q3. Have you ever done something that you are proud of?
My daughter, who is only 7, already shows a deep empathy and compassion for others. If I can continue to foster and grow those ideals into her adult life then that will be my greatest accomplishment.
Q1: When was the last time you did something for the first time and what was it?
Q2: If you could travel to any country, all expenses paid, where would you go?
Q3: What hobby do you enjoy?
