“Hey Sue, can I get a Rolling Rock bottle?”
“Sure thing hun, be right with you.”
Bobby has no idea how long Sue has owned this bar but by the looks of her, she has spent most of her life in places like this. He guessed she is easily in her late sixties, if not older. One thing for sure, she is much too old to be wearing shorts that short. As she walks to the cooler, Bobby can’t help but stare at her flabby ass hanging out beneath those shorts. Things quickly take a turn for the worse as apparently the Rolling Rock is not only on the bottom shelf but all the way in the back.
“Holy mother of . . .”
Sue, still bending over turns her head in Bobby’s direction.
“What? Oh nothing, I was just thinking about something that happened to me earlier today.”
She slaps down what Bobby can only assume had once been a coaster of some sort.
“That’ll be two-fifty sugar.”
“Here, keep the change.”
“Thanks. Hey, I couldn’t help but notice you talking to that broad over there. Gotta be careful picking up a woman who looks like that, in a place like this.”
“What? No, I’m just talking to her. Just shootin’ the shit. Nothing more than that going on.”
“Oh come on now, there’s nothing wrong with trying to get a little action. Just want you to know, if things don’t work out with her, why don’t you stick around till close, I’ve got something I’d like to show you.”
“Uh . . . thanks . . . I’ll uh, think about it.”
“Just sayin’, you know.”
Bobby takes a sip from his beer as he walks away, shaking off a chill as he thinks about the proposition.
He steps up to the table where the woman is sitting, pauses for a moment and then sets down his beer.
“I need some time to think about this. Can you meet me here next Wednesday?”
“Yeah, sure. But I don’t have a lot of time though. I need you to do this.”
“What I need, is some time to think about it. This isn’t some small fucking favor your asking here. This whole situation has the potential to land me in a world of shit. I need to sleep on it.”
“O.K. Next Wednesday. Please, make sure you are here.”
“I’m here every Wednesday. Now leave me alone, I wanna relax for a while.”
Bobby watches the woman as she leaves the bar. She is beautiful, wonder what her husband did to piss her off that much.
