Left Waiting

If left waiting
I could stand here
For a lifetime
Lost on the horizon
In empty fields
Hour after hour
Sunrise to sunset
Basking in the glow
Of your distant memory
A smile, now far away
Dreaming of the chance
You might notice me
In the way, I notice you
To feel your hand
Brush my cheek
As your lips, lift me
From my knees
Your voice, carries me
From this place
Where I’m left waiting
Toiling through the hours
And miles away
From the only thing
I know as home

  1. I do enjoy thinking while I read your poems River. You have such an intelligent way of finding words to fester inside our souls once we finish them. They hit home my friend. Thanks for sharing these deep ideas with us all here !
