Thoughts create and alter
A memory is a memory
Of the last time we remembered
It’s no wonder how easy it is
To forget what really happened
Better to be stuck, I suppose
In our own version of things
Than to wrap ourselves
In regret, shame, the guilt
The realization that this place
Is exactly where I, myself
Have brought me
powerful words.

There was a time when I stopped remembering my youth and started to remember remembering my youth.
Very insightful…

Of the last time we remembered” so much truth and wisdom. So much to learn.

There’s a life story in this one, River… remembered as well as memory serves.

“The realization that this place
Is exactly where I, myself
Have brought me…”. I live this daily, mixed equally with relief and regret. Beautiful piece. 🙏

Clever second and third line as that is exactly how our brain works with memories apparently – we do edit our memories.

At the end of the day, no one to blame but ourselves. Hard to accept sometimes, true nevertheless.

Very cool piece of writing. I think more than often we actually are stuck in our own version of things. Sometimes it could mean more harm than good. What’s your thought on that?

For sure. I think that sometimes we do that as a defense mechanism. It can make it easier to blame others for our current state instead of accepting that in the end, we are responsible for the place we are at.
