There Was a Place

I felt an ache in my lips

A longing to remember

What it was like

To find that spot

Where your neck

Breaks away to shoulder

Eyes closed, somehow

I always managed

To find my way

Tip of my tongue

Exploring

The way your skin

Felt against bone

Pressed lightly

Over, around

The taste, smell of you

Taking me somewhere

I cannot describe

A soft exhale

Warm breath

You moan lightly

From a place

Almost as beautiful

As you

I would stay there

For a lifetime

And let the world

Fall around us

For the only

Thing that’s real

Is the ache

In my lips

As they long

To remember you
